wall hanging, assembled in France ca. 1920's, from older French silk fragments, they are all hand woven silk brocade, including the trim which is brocade silk wrapped with metal foil, the metal still gleams a bit of gold color in sunlight, so i think it is a low karat gold, the fragments date to the 18thC, we know it was assembled in France ca. 1920's because there is an old made in France label attached, and the blue silk backing looks early 20thC, textiles like these would have been opulent and very expensive in the 18thC, and only available to the aristocracy or religious clergy, there are 2 bars sewn into the back, one on the top and bottom, rings are sewn across the top for hanging, there is splitting of the silks, mainly in the top and bottom panels, the approximate size is 11.5 inches x 34 inches, #4160, shipping is extra
