Antique South Caucasian or Shahsavan Khorjin with plain weave back. www.knightsantiques.co.uk
Circa 1890.
The saddle bag faces are very well drawn with large medallion surrounded by floral rosettes and tribal design elements. This design is found on South Caucasian, Shahsavan and Karaja region rugs and saddle bags.
The Khorjin is in excellent condition with slight even wear and good pile to the faces. The wool is very soft and the bag face have a floppy handle. These bags have been used and there are signs of wear to the backs and to the central panel which has an old repair.... this adds to the attraction of the Khorjin.
The khorjin has been hand washed and is ready for display.
